At the time, everything that had previously defined me \u2014 my health, my job, my financial independence \u2014 had been stripped from me. It felt like the rug had been pulled out from under my feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most 30-year-olds aren\u2019t writing out their final wishes in the event they won\u2019t be able to communicate, but several years ago, I was. As I finished the evaluation for a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cysticfibrosisnewstoday.com\/cystic-fibrosis-lung-transplant\/\">double-lung transplant<\/a>, made necessary by complications of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cysticfibrosisnewstoday.com\/cystic-fibrosis-overview\/\">cystic fibrosis<\/a>, I had to rumble with death more than life.
