She rarely had the chance to enjoy her favorite foods\u2014seafood, tacos, ice cream\u2014with her family and friends. That\u2019s because she didn\u2019t have any intestines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of eating, Diana was fed intravenously. For 12 hours each day, she was hooked up to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stanfordchildrens.org\/en\/service\/intestinal-rehabilitation\/services\">parenteral nutrition<\/a>, or TPN, which delivers liquid nutrients through a central line or semipermanent IV.
