The event was live-streamed and promoted by New York\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NYGovCuomo\/status\/1338488030416388098\">Gov. Andrew Cuomo<\/a>, who said, <em><strong>&#8220;The vaccine only works if the American people take it.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sandra Lindsay, a critical care nurse at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, was the first person to receive the vaccine at the event.
